THERE’S more to Adam Reed’s job then just cutting and styling hair.

With Hollywood A-List clients including Dianne Kruger and Sophie Dahl, and jet-setting off for shoots for magazines across the globe, the hairdresser has come a long way since his first job at Something Else in Minehead.

The 41-year-old, who grew up in Watchet, now owns two salons in London with partner Paul Percival.

The pair set up ‘Percy and Reed’ in 2007 and haven’t looked back since, launching their own product range in 2010. But Adam doesn’t forget his roots.

On their website, he and Paul state that they are hairdressers “first and foremost”, and that they wanted what they’d learned to be available to everyone.

“I used to visit a salon in Washford with my nan and I loved it, I was hooked from there,” said Adam. “

I love everything about hairdressing – the skill of it, the people and the fact that I’ve been able to travel all over the world.

“I love that it continuously changes and I never really know what I will be doing from one day to the next.”

With his family still living in Somerset, Adam said he tries to get home as much as possible, but not as much as he would like.

He said: “I have a lot of great memories in Somerset, but I don’t get back as much as I would like.

“The hours are hard, though I do choose them, so I’m not complaining, but it’s difficult to juggle the many responsibilities.

“If I’m in the salon I will see about 12 clients throughout the day, and in between I will be doing quotes for magazines, preparing for international trips or preparing for shows or shoots.

“But the results make the job so rewarding. I love seeing people smiling at the end of the day.”
