A SCOUT shop in Bridgwater is having a much-needed facelift and organisers are in need of donations and a helping hand.

The Bridgwater Scout and Guide Shop was situated on the top floor at Unity House in Dampiet Street but moved to the bottom floor of the same building to save its elderly members from climbing up more than 50 stairs.

Colin Gaye, who runs the shop with his wife, Mollie, said: “It will be a blessing for those who had to climb those stairs to buy items and hopefully encourage more use of the shop.

“Any profit made goes to the Bridgwater Scouts division which also covers Chilton Polden, Cannington and North Petherton.”

The new shop needs shelving putting up and painting, which is estimated to cost £250.
