SEDGEMOOR District Council is hosting a free informal event to help people look for work using the worldwide web.
It is being held at Blake Hall in St Saviour’s Avenue, Bridgwater, on Wednesday, January 29, between 10am and 2pm.
Workshops will help jobseekers understand more about psychometric testing at 10.15am, using online application processes such as Universal Job Match at 10.45am, and the process of registering with the EDF Energy Brokerage at 11.15am.
Laura Fowler, Sedgemoor’s employment and skills outreach worker, said: “Completing job applications online can be very hard for jobseekers who are not confident with their IT skills or who don’t have ready access to computers or broadband.”
The Engine Room will be discussing the IT facilities it has available for public use at noon.
It will also be offering computer workshops.
Asda will be giving attendees a guide through of their web-based application process from 12.30pm.
Martin Kay at Somerset Social Media, based in Cheddar, will also be covering a session on ‘Social media use for job searching’ from 1pm.
