9:13pm

AVON and Somerset Police are warning drivers to avoid flooded roads.

A spokesman said: "If you are intending to travel, please consider delaying your journey until the morning, or otherwise use alternative routes and be cautious of standing water.

"Please avoid driving through flooded roads as vehicles are likely to get stuck."

8:54pm

FLOODING reported on lots of roads across Somerset.

Among those are lanes between Kingston St Mary and Bishops Lydeard, Wrantage, North Petherton to North Newton, West Buckland, Churchinford, Timberscombe, Netherclay and Bishop's Hull.

7:30pm

THERE are reports of flooded roads between Nethey Syowey and Bridgwater and Cannington and Bridgwater.

The road between Bridgwater and Spaxton is heavily flooded.

There are no trains between Castle Cary and Taunton due to flooding on the tracks.

The B3227 inton Norton Fitzwarren at the caravan park is flooded. Vehicles are turning round, although some have been spotted driving on the pavement to avoid floodwater.

6:39pm

REPORTS of flooding at Dipford Road and between Trull and Taunton.

The A372 at Langport is also heavily flooded.

Did you realise we've only had one dry day in the last 37 days?

6:33pm

EXPECT a drier day tomorrow - if you can believe the weather forecast.

Apparently the rain will die away overnight and we can expect only a few showers.

We'll see!

5:40pm

TAUNTON Titans maintained their unbeaten home record with a win against Redruth.

The pitch was waterlogged in parts, but the game at Fortress Hyde Park went ahead this afternoon.

The home side triumphed 16 points to five.

12:09pm

THERE will be no football at Taunton's Wordsworth Drive this afternoon.

Taunton Town's home match against Cirencester has been postponed.

12:07pm

TAUNTON Titans rugby match at home to Redruth is due to go ahead, kick off 3pm.

Hyde Park passed an earlier pitch inspection.

11:40am

ONE sporting activity that survived the weather was a weekly park run in Taunton.

Dozens of runners defied the drizzle to complete the 5k Longrun event staged every Saturday.

Plenty of muddy trainers and kit to clean afterwards.

8:07am

TRAVELLERS are reminded there are no trains between Taunton and Tiverton Parkway and Exeter St David's.

Buses are being laid on for passengers instead.

There will also be some buses instead of some trains between Castle Cary and Taunton.

But we can't blame this one on the weather - Network Rail is carrying out works.

8:04am

THE gates at Taunton Racecourse open at 10am.

The first race on the card is at 12.30pm.

7:56am

GOOD news for horse racing fans - Taunton Racecourse, at Corfe, has passed an early morning inspection.

Today's meeting will go ahead despite overnight rain.

But race goers should take their brollies as more rain is predicted.

Not surprisingly the going will be heavy.

7:44am

MOTORISTS are reminded that some roads in the area are still closed due to flooding.

They include Main Road at Burrowbridge; New Road at West Lyng; and the Martock road to West Lyng.

Drivers should not attempt to drive past road closed or flooding signs.

7:38am

THE miserable weather has caused disruption to sports fixtures.

A number of councils have already said their soggy pitches are unavailable this weekend.

7:34am

MOTORISTS have already been told to take heed of temporary road signs this week.

It follows a driver getting stuck in water at Burrowbridge.

Devon and Somerset firefighters had to rescue here and have warned people not to ignore road closed signs.

7:31am

SOMERSET is bracing itself for more rain today (Saturday, January 18).

The Met Office says about 3mm of rain are likely to fall.

That in itself is not a lot, but with the ground already saturated, people are warned to look out for flooding.

Bridgwaters First team Match, was a Victim this week, despite all the work put in by the Groundman, who because of his pre-match efforts last week, meant the match could go ahead, this week not so good news.......

When is this rain going to stop? It's getting people down now and so many people have been affected by it one way or another. Fingers crossed for a couple of dry days forecasted.
