TEAM GB beach volleyball star Zara Dampney visited Bridgwater College to encourage students to take part in sport.
Zara delivered a talk for the students to motivate them to engage in physical activity and take up sports, and later held a volleyball master class.
Carly Martin, college sports maker, said: “It was an amazing experience having such an inspirational sports personality visit Bridgwater College.
“Zara was really enthusiastic and the students responded well to the messages she was putting across about sports participation.
“There has already been an increase in our volleyball enrichment provision since Zara’s visit.”
Zara said, “I’m hopeful that by using the Olympic and Paralympics legacy from London 2012 and through my experiences in competing at elite level, I can inspire all the young people in attendance to sustain their sports participation.”
Bridgwater College won the visit from Zara after submitting a winning story to an Active Colleges competition about a volleyball project that has encouraged more of their students to take up sport.
