AN URBAN design consultant will be visiting Minehead in January to give a presentation on the ‘Shared Space’ potential for the town.
Ben Hamilton-Baillie will be giving the presentation at the Beach Hotel on January 8 starting at 6.30pm.
‘Shared Space’ is an approach which seeks to minimise the separation between vehicle traffic and pedestrians, often by removing features such as curbs, road surface markings, traffic signs and regulations.
The presentation will focus on the potential development of the area in between the Beach Hotel and West Somerset Railway, and the area between the Old Hospital and the Regal Theatre.
Minehead Vision manager Stephen Hooper said: “The presentation is open to everyone. Residents and businesses in both areas are particularly encouraged to attend to find out how this design approach can bring economic, social and environmental benefits.”
