SOMERSET Freemasons presented St Margaret's Hospice in Yeovil with a grant of £3,309 from their national charity, the Freemasons' Grand Charity.

Justin Martin, whose wife Julia died in the hospice in October, asked that the collection from those attending her thanksgiving service at South Petherton Parish Church, to be donated to St Margaret's Hospice.

The total collected was £1,650, and to underline the support, the Somerset Masonic Charities committee made an additional donation of £500.

Mr Martin said the total contribution of £5,459 recognised the extraordinary level of care - both medical and pastoral - that St Margaret's Hospice gives to South Somerset, and particularly Yeovil.
