THE parents of a cyclist who died after a-hit and-run incident in Bath at the weekend have released a photograph of him.

Jake Gilmore, 19, who lived and worked in Bath, was in collision with a car which failed to stop in Midland Bridge Road in the city on Saturday night. He was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital with life-threatening head injuries and later died.

Jake went to Holyrood Academy and later Richard Huish College in Taunton and his parents live near Ilminster.

The car failed to stop after the incident at 9.30pm and police want garages and mechanics in the county to be on alert for anyone bringing their vehicle in for urgent repair work since the incident.

A spokesman said: "We are appealing to people running small garage businesses, car body repair workshops and home-based mechanics, who may have been approached to carry out work to a damaged car sometime since Saturday night."

DI Charlotte Tucker said: "We appeal to friends and family of someone who may have been involved in a road traffic collision which damaged their car on Saturday night.

"They may know of someone who is acting suspiciously or withdrawn, especially if asked about the damage to their car. We urge these people – or the driver – to contact us urgently."
