AUTHORITIES in Somerset say there is still ‘considerable work to be done’ by National Grid over its plans to connect Hinkley Point to the network.
A consultation period over plans to build large pylons up to 50 metres tall in the Somerset countryside has now ended.
In a joint statement, six councils – including Somerset County Council and West Somerset Council – have called for more information on mitigation ideas.
The statement says: “The councils acknowledge the need to deliver the project quickly in response to the urgent need at a national level.
“However, it is essential National Grid provides all the relevant information so the councils and affected communities can understand the impact of the development.”
