STORMTROOPERS, firebirds and even Father Christmas will be making an appearance at Chard carnival this year.
A procession of ten floats, walking masqueraders, groups and majorettes will make its way down Fore Street next week thanks to the tireless work of 15 carnival committee members.
Fundraising events are held throughout the year, to raise the £6,000 it costs to run the carnival.
This means that all money collected on the night will go to the committee’s chosen charities.
This year the carnival’s main beneficiaries are the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Care and Chard After Stroke Club.
The event has raised £97,000 for local charities and organisations in its 46-year history and this year the committee hopes to break the £100,000 mark.
The carnival is on Saturday, October 12. Anyone interested in helping on the day should visit www.chardcarnival.org.uk
