Pets at Home microchipping event
6:00pm Friday 27th September 2013 in Somerset
PETS at Home Yeovil is holding a microchipping event on both Saturday and Sunday (September 28 and 29) to help owners protect their pets from being lost or stolen.
An important part of responsible pet ownership, microchipping is the most effective way of increasing the chances of a missing pet being returned safely to its owner.
According to new government rules, all dogs in Wales must be microchipped by 2015, and in England by 2016, or owners will face fines for non-compliance.
To help owners meet the deadline, and also encourage local pet owners to lessen the likelihood of permanently losing a pet, Pets at Home Yeovil is offering a special rate of just £10 (usually £15).
Fully trained in all aspects of pet care, including microchipping, Pets at Home store teams make it very easy for pet owners to drop in and make use of the service. For the majority of pet owners, the ‘peace of mind’ guarantee is worth the associated cost of £10.
Store manager Christine Burdess said: “With microchipping, if your cat or dog is lost or stolen, there is a better chance you will avoid any heartache and be re-united with your beloved pet.
“The 2016 government law is getting closer and closer and we’re here to help our customers ensure they meet the deadline by offering the simple, relatively painless procedure for a reduced rate.”
The chip is roughly the size of a grain of rice, fits under the pet’s skin and contains information about its owner, making it easier for both to be reunited should they become separated for whatever reason.
At Pets at Home, when a chip is implanted, every pet is given a unique code number, which is then stored along with the owner’s contact details on the UK’s largest registration database, Petlog.
