A LABRADOR became trapped in thick mud – and then her owner got stuck as she went to rescue her.
Crews from BARB and the Burnham Coastguard came to the rescue of Rose Prosser, who had got stuck after attempting to free her dog Holly, who had become stranded on the banks of the River Brue at Burnham Yacht Club.
Rose managed to attract the attention of a passer-by, who alerted coastguards and BARB.
Rose was put on a stretcher and helped to safety, while Holly was lifted out of the mud and led back to the beach.
Rose said: "I am extremely grateful for the help of the Coastguards and BARB for their swift help in both our rescues."
"I was surprised at how easy it is to get stuck in the mud and was relieved that the tide was out at the time."
The incident happened on Tuesday last week.
