Council looks for new councillors
6:00pm Saturday 16th March 2013 in Somerset
ILMINSTER Town Council has put out an appeal to find two people to serve as councillors.
The council would like to co-opt two people after the res-ignations of Sian Sainsbury and Sarah Maylor due to other commitments.
The Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Roger Swann, said they were looking for people who are enthusiastic about the town, and the community they live and work in, and would like to make a difference in influ-encing decisions that affect the area.
“The town council is able to make a significant difference to the quality of life for people who live and work in Ilminster,” he said.
“We undertake a variety of services, ranging from man-aging the cemetery to pro-viding children’s play areas.
“It’s important that the town council is representative of the community it serves, and comprises people across a broad age spectrum who have a wide range of experience, skills and knowledge.”
At full strength the council has 15 councillors and deci-sions are made through a system of committees with meetings usually held on Tuesday evenings.
Information on the recruitment process is available from town clerk Joy Norris on 01460-52419 or email town. council@ilminster.gov.uk
