A POPULAR sixties revival show featuring the original voice of The Searchers – Mike Pender – and special guests The Merseybeats is stopping off at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston this weekend.

Now in its 28th year, the Solid Silver ’60s Show boasts unforgettable tracks performed by the original hit-makers themselves.

Mike Pender’s songs, including Sweets For My Sweet and Needles and Pins, will take you on a trip down memory lane, all with the musical backing of The New Amen Corner.

Mike Pender said: “The show is nostalgic for a lot of people but we are also getting a new generation of fans coming through as people bring along their sons and daughters, which is good to see.”

He added: “Bands from today have all had inspiration from the ’60s and I still get a big kick out of performing even though I pace myself now because I can’t do it like I used to!

“We are not spring chickens any more. I have turned 70 now although I don’t feel it. I don’t think about age when I’m performing and that’s what you have to do when you get on stage and that’s also what I tell the audience.”

Other acts include Dave Berry, who had hits with Memphis Tennessee and The Crying Game, and R&B singer Wayne Fontana.

Tickets are from £23 to £25 for performances at 3pm and 7.45pm on Sunday – call 01934-645544 to book or visit the website at theplayhouse.co.uk
