John Kirby leaves Somerset County Council

LONG-STANDING Somerset County Council worker John Kirby is stepping down after 30 years’ service.

Chief executive Sheila Wheeler confirmed the lead commissioner for children and learning has taken immediate compassionate leave due to personal reasons.

She added: “John has made a huge contribution to the council and I’m sure all staff, council members and partners will join me in wishing him well for the future.”
