A MEMBER of Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society has penned the biography of a popular thespian.
Sue Pomeroy, from North Petherton, worked with her long-time friend Brian Buttle to write his biography, ‘Adventures in the Playground’, before his death in 2010.
She said: “Brian was born in the town in 1942 and displayed a great passion for music, film and theatre.
“Against many odds he achieved his dream by training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School as a mature student.”
Sadly he was diagnosed with cancer and by the time of his death, the book had only detailed his life up to 1984. But Sue completed the story with the aid many friends and family.
She added: “This book is unusual and compelling. Through the highs and lows of his life, we follow Brian’s story – a celebration of the life of an idealistic man of music, theatre and dreams.”
The book launch will take place from 7pm to 10.30pm in the Sedgemoor Suite of Bridgwater and Albion Rugby Football Club on February 22.
It will be available from the author, Sue Pomeroy, at £9.99 per copy plus £3 postage and packing. Profits will go toward publication costs, Brian’s widow and the author.
