Boost for crucial transport service in Wiveliscombe
7:00am Sunday 27th January 2013 in Somerset
David Impey and Bruce Keay of Wiveliscombe and District Rotary Club present a cheque for £1,000 to volunteer drivers Sue Tyrie, Richard Harding and Sarah Cochrane.
A CRUCIAL transport service which aids elderly people has been boosted by a £1,000 donation.
Wivey Link is a charity which offers community transport to older people who struggle to get in and out of town to the likes of Taunton and Wellington.
And the Rotary Club is the latest organisation to help the project, which has been running since 2004.
Chairman of the Wiveliscombe Area Partnership Pauline Homeshaw said: “Without the support of kind sponsors like the Rotary Club of Wiveliscombe to keep our cars on the road, our many isolated and often elderly passengers who use Wivey Link would be hugely disadvantaged.”
