Should gambling adverts be banned?

Should gambling adverts be banned? Should gambling adverts be banned?

DO you reckon there's too much TV advertising for gambling?

You can't seem to get away from it during sports programmes on TV.

Have you or someone you know got addicted to betting because of the in-your-face advertising?

Let's have your views/stories please for a feature in the Somerset County Gazette - either here on e-mail phil.hill@countygazette.co.uk or call 01823 365100.

Why are you doing a story about this?

I'd rather have some local news about local events seeing as you're a local newspaper!

Although I do agree with you slow down, but we do have gamblers in Somerset and in Taunton you know.

People who are in the bookies all day placing bets, and on the casino games.

It would be interesting to see the bookies takings if benefits were paid out in food/fuel vouchers etc, rather than cash straight into their banks to spend on what they like.

But its up to them Mark, some people buy clothes and shoes that they don't need every weekend on credit cards should we be concerned about that form of advertising too?

I'm not sure that anyone gets addicted to betting soley because of the advertising. People get addicted to all sorts of things, it doesn't mean we should ban advertising on everything that someone could possibly become addicted too.

Fed up to the eyeballs of the ban this, ban that mentality in this country whenever something is seen as bad for a minority. How about we ban reality shows as they make the dim demented, paying taxes as they cause hardship, stress and financial ruin, car adverts as driving one could cause an accident and party political broadcasts as they're full of lies.
Feel better now I've got that off my chest.
