AGE UK Somerset is running a ‘stretch and relax’ class open to everyone at St John’s Church Rooms.
One member said: “The stretch, breathe and relax sessions help to keep my hip joints and my lower back flexible in a safe and gentle way.
“It helps my balance and it is an hour of peace and tranquillity, time just for me.”
Age UK Somerset spokesman Di Ramsay, added: “The session stretches and tones your body – helping to make you stronger and more flexible while improving your breathing. This will help you relax and sleep better.”
Arthritis Research UK research found yoga could provide more effective treatment for chronic low back pain than the usual care GPs provide.
Di said: “Please bring a mat or blanket to work with. All movements will be adapted for a steady and comfortable practice – either lying on the mat, standing or seated.”
