Annual lunch another success for Ilminster's seniors

THE annual Ilminster Senior Citizens’ Christmas Lunch was held at the Shrubbery Hotel last Saturday.

About 120 diners attended the event funded by donations from organisations including the Nyanza Lodge of Freemasons, Ilminster Rotary Club, Ilminster Lions Club, Shelley’s Wish and Marshall Herbert of Herbert’s Fun Fair.

Lions Club members helped transport diners to and from the Shrubbery, while the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge and other volunteers acted as waiters and waitresses for the afternoon.

Serenade and Double Gs provided the entertainment and Ilminster Deputy Mayor Cllr Emma Jane Taylor went along to lend her support to the event.

Chief organiser Angela Clapp thanked Stuart Shepherd and staff at the Shrubbery Hotel, Nancy Atkinson and everyone who helped make the event such a success.
