A LEISURE centre in Bridgwater could become 'a centre for excellence' in swimming when a new pool opens this year.
Ricky Hayes, swim coordinator for the new pool at Trinity Sports and Leisure Centre, says the new facility will become a valuable asset to the town.
He said: “It's very exciting to be part of the new Trinity Pool Project, which is being funded by Sedgemoor District Council, and seeing the building develop on my way to work each day.
“It is going to be a fantastic facility and it could become a centre for excellence for the sport and local swimming clubs.”
Ricky, 28, is also lead swimming coach of the town's swimming club and swims for Somerset in the veteran class.
He said: “I am keen not to just encourage people to swim but for the local community to get involved in a number of water sports such as water polo and synchronised swimming.
“It's all about participation and having fun while keeping fit.”
The new Trinity Pool is expected to open in the spring of 2013. For more information visit www.1610.org.uk
