A SIXTH former at King’s College in Taunton has picked up a prestigious design technology award.

Ted Vickery received the gold medal for engineering excellence from The Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation.

The award goes to a student whose project demonstrates outstanding craftsmanship.

Ted’s project, a small-scale wind tunnel, demonstrated the physical principles behind aerodynamics.

Jason Grindle, head of DT at King’s, said: “I’m delighted for Ted that the quality of his work has been recognised nationally.

"It sets a magnificent example for our younger DT pupils to aspire to and all our congratulations go to Ted.”
