SUPPORTERS of Secret World Wildlife Rescue visited Sainsbury’s store with some feathered friends.

Animals and birds at the local rescue centre now benefit from donations of Sainsbury’s waste produce every week and Secret World members wanted to say a big thank you.

Carole Smith of Sainsbury’s said: “We are delighted that we are able to help Secret World feed some of the animals they care for and are looking forward to working with the charity in the future.”

The well known rescue centre is currently accommodating more than 100 hedgehogs and staff are preparing themselves for a busy winter period.

A spokesperson for Secret World said: “Sainsbury’s have kindly set up a waste food collection with us so wasted bread and fruit and veg etcetera can be consumed by the animals at Secret World.”

The wildlife centre is currently fundraising for its Call of the Wild appeal, supported by the Weekly News, to raise £4.4million for a new wildlife teaching hospital.”
