FRIDAY night will be a big night for Chard schoolboy Logan McKerrow when he will help switch on the Christmas lights in the town.

It has been an amazing year for Logan, who has helped to so far raise £25,000 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People by selling an Olympic torch he made out of card and paper on|e-Bay.

The torch has gone around the country on its e-Bay journey and has now reached its 30th owners – Paul and Maria Pike, of Sue’s Flowers in Chard.

Maria said: “When we heard that Logan had been asked to switch on the Christmas lights in Chard, we thought it would be a lovely idea to bring the torch back to Chard as well.

“The torch is now in the shop in Boden Street until Friday for anyone to have their photo taken with it – along with a donation to the charity.”

Maria added: “After talking to Kerry, Logan’s mum, about bringing the torch back to Chard, she thought it would be an ideal opportunity to involve local businesses by giving them an opportunity to have their photos taken with it.”

That total in itself is a fantastic £2,000 and Kerry would like to thank everyone for their support.

Any local businesses which has not been involved and would like to be should contact Sue’s Flowers on|01460-62108.

Logan’s torch will be at Santa’s Grotto on Friday evening in the Guildhall. Photo opportunities will be available with all profits going to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
