PUPILS and staff at Dulverton Middle School are celebrating after getting their second Green Flag Award.
Eco-Schools’ highest award is given out every two years if a school can prove it is operating in a sustainable and environmentally aware way.
Solar panels, a fast composter for kitchen waste and a dedicated Eco Committe of enthusiastic pupils responsible for composting, switching off unnecessary lights and equipment and keeping the school litter-free have all been commended.
Sophie Hansen, the school’s eco leader, said: “The committee has also drawn up an Eco-Code adopted by the school and displayed in all classrooms to make all our pupils understand the importance of being ‘green’.
"We also cover environmental issues in at least three areas of our curriculum.”
