STAFF and members at a Bridgwater gym showed off the rewards of their hard work on the treadmill when they bared all for a naked calendar in aid of charity.

Around 20 regulars and instructors at Trimwise Health and Fitness Club stripped down to their birthday suits and donned a variety of cheeky poses for the photo shoot.

All proceeds raised from the calendar, which will be available from the club by mid-December, will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The charity is the choice of member Debbie Farcas, who won the opportunity to select a worthy recipient of the funds after coming first in a 16-week weight loss programme at the club.

Debbie herself took part in the photo shoot, which was held in the gym in two separate sessions for men and women to spare each other’s modesty.

Director Pete Mathews said there was plenty of interest as soon as requests for volunteers went out around the gym and on the club’s Facebook page.

“We had a really good response. Everyone was pretty nervous before the shoot but they were keen to do it because it is for a great cause,” he said.

Four years ago the club produced its first naked calendar in aid of the British Skin Foundation – raising over £800 for the charity.

“I think this year is going to be even better,” added Pete.

“There a couple of people living locally who work with the charity and they are giving it a huge push on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

“We are really lucky to have such great members and staff who are so supportive of each other.

“Everyone will be extremely proud to see the finished product and it will be nice to see the real cross section of people taking part.

“It is not going to be a Mr Universe calendar – just real people having fun and hopefully raising some money at the same time.”
