POLLING stations open tomorrow (November 15) for Langport Town Council’s by-election.

The five candidates are Adam Saunders, Jennifer McDonald, Lynn Glenister, Colin Edwards and Clare Aparicio vying for two vacancies.

Adam describes Langport as ‘an amazing place with tons of potential’ and hopes to improve facilities for young people and improve the road and traffic in the town.

Jennifer grew up in the town and studied at Huish Episcopi Secondary School.

She is passionate about supporting the independent shops and businesses and the facilities such as the library, youth clubs and community groups.

Mother of two, Lynn, has lived in Langport for six years and is a member of the town’s Transition Group. She hopes to bring awareness to environmental, educational and health issues.

Colin has lived and worked in Langport all his life and believes he knows the town as well as anyone. He wants to represent the views of ‘ordinary Langport people’.

He is also a keen tennis player and coach and was presented with an Oustanding Service Award by the council in 2011.

Clare is the founding member of Langport Area Business Group and works in Evans Butchers in the town. She wants to ‘make a difference to the quality of other people’s daily lives and prospects’.

The polling station is at Ridgway Hall, Stacey's Court, in Bow Street.
