An elderly woman has been injured in a hit-and-run crash in Dumfries.
The 72-year-old was knocked down on Galloway Street by a dark-coloured, five-door, saloon-style car at about 7.40am on Tuesday.
Police said the car stopped momentarily and then drove off, turning on to Glasgow Street.
The woman, who was wearing a bright orange jacket, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
She had bruising, as well as a potentially fractured right ankle.
Constable John Macbeth said: “It amazes me that the driver of the car failed to stop after the crash.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed this collision and has not already spoken to police, or anyone who may have captured the vehicle on their dash cameras.
“I would also encourage the driver of the car to come forward to clear the matter up. Police at Dumfries can be contacted through the 101 number.”
