A YOUNG mum whose son’s eczema was so severe she didn’t take him out has found relief in a £4.50 cream.

Cory Lloyd, 23, was at her wits’ end with her son Jack’s atopic eczema, which covered his whole body.

Four-year-old Jack started suffering from the condition when he was just three months old.

Mother-of-two Mrs Lloyd, from Darwen, avoided taking Jack out because people would stare. They were eventually referred to a dermatologist, who prescribed wet bandages, steroids, aqueous creams and emollient, but they had little effect.

In June this year, after more than three years of discomfort and sleepless nights, Mrs Lloyd decided to try out Childs Farm’s baby moisturiser after reading about the product online.

When she first applied the cream, her son’s skin was like “sandpaper”, but within just one week it had completely cleared up, and Jack’s skin is now completely eczema-free.

Mrs Lloyd said: “When Jack’s eczema was at its worst we attracted unwanted attention everywhere. He had a really bad patch on his face and people would comment every time we went anywhere.

“He looked like he’d fallen over or been burned. He would wake up in the morning and it would be bleeding.

“I went out one day and an elderly woman was talking to somebody and she said, ‘look at that little boy, he’s had a terrible fall, his mum must not have been looking after him’, and then she said something about young mums.

“I just went home and cried.

“We recently went on holiday and we had a family day out on the beach - this is something we just couldn’t have done before because of Jack’s eczema.”

Childs Farm’s consultant dermatologist Dr Jennifer Crawley said: “Jack’s story is just a heartbreaking example of the effect skin conditions like eczema can have on individuals, particularly young children.

“Atopic eczema is the most common form of eczema, causing the skin to become itchy, dry, cracked, sore and red.

Founder of Childs Farm, Joanna Jensen, added: “When I started developing cosmetic products it was specifically with children in mind.

"All the things that children should be free to enjoy - playtime and family days out, were all at the forefront of my mind.”
