Dog survives 40-feet cliff fall at Exmouth

A GOLDEN retriever survived falling 40 feet after going over a cliff at Exmouth on Saturday.
HM Coastguard is again warning owners to keep dogs on leads to keep them safe when walking near cliffs after two dogs fell in separate incidents.
At Exmouth the resort's Coastguard Rescue Team and the Exmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat were called out.
A spokesman said: "The dog's owners were visiting the area on holiday and fortunately this dog did survive the accident."
In Dorset, a springer spaniel was not so lucky.
Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team was called out to a beach close to Durdle Door after a springer spaniel went over the cliff and fell 150 feet.
Cindy Rodaway, Portland Coastguard Watch Manager, said: "Sadly, when the animal was located down on the beach it was dead.
"When walking near cliffs you should keep your dog on a lead to keep them safe.
"Even well behaved and obedient dogs can still behave unpredictably and run over cliffs when they hear or smell something interesting. If your dog goes over please dont attempt a rescue. In an emergency contact 999 for the Coastguard."
