Choir's community centre fundraiser brings in over £1,200

COWBRIDGE Male Voice Choir from Wales has raised over £1,200 for Cullompton Community Centre.

The choir held a fundraising concert in which it performed a varied programme of songs in St Andrew’s Church before retiring to the community centre next door for an ‘afterglow’ where they had a few drinks before singing again, more informally, with the audience.

The evening was organised by Margaret Deeley and her husband, Tom.

Cullompton Community centre manager Steve Alcock said: “We’re extremely grateful for these much needed extra funds.

“We receive no ongoing funding and have to make sure we balance the books by generating income.

“Evenings like this provide great, reasonably priced entertainment for local people, and help us sustain a wonderful resource for the town and the whole community.

“It was a fantastic night enjoyed by an audience of over 150 people in great surroundings.

“It was certainly an interesting test for us having a Welsh male voice choir for our first event with a licensed bar.”

The next fundraising event will be on Saturday, July 28, with singing and a quiz.
