Teignbridge and South Hams catalytic converter thefts

Police have issued a warning to the public following a series of thefts of catalytic convertors from vehicles in Teignbridge and the South Hams.

Between the June 23 and June 25, there were six catalytic converter thefts in the area.

The vehicles being targeted are mainly 4x4s or vans – where it is easy to get underneath a parked vehicle. Four of the six crimes in Teignbridge and South Hams involved Ford Rangers.

The converters are being stolen while vehicles are parked on the street outside the owners’ homes and also from vehicles parked on industrial estates.

Officers advise the public to park their vehicles either under street lights if possible, on driveways or in garages and to avoid leaving vehicles in areas such as industrial estates.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police or Crimestoppers in confidence on 101.

Officers are particualrly keen to hear from anyone who may see catalytic converters or exhausts being transported.
