Environment Agency issues heavy rain warning

THE Environment Agency is warning people to be prepared for possible surface water flooding as heavy rain is forecast today across the South West.

The Met Office is forecasting heavy rain in Devon from 10am today until 10pm this evening as slow moving, heavy showers may give some torrential downpours.

Intense thundery downpours are expected, intensifying as the day progresses.

Duncan Struggles of the Environment Agency said: "The nature and the pattern of the thundery showers will be quite sporadic. Residents and businessesshould remain vigilant to flooding and be prepared to take action, particularly those who are operating caravan and camping sites vulnerable to flooding."
