OXFAM is encouraging Mid Devon women to get together and help celebrate the 101st anniversary of International Women's Day on March 8, 2012.
Women can help by holding a themed get together event, such as dinner parties, coffee mornings and zumbathons.
All money raised will go toward Oxfam's women-focused projects, which include maternal health care, access to education, ending violence against women and helping women set up their own businesses.
Lisa Buckingham, of Oxfam South West, said: “I can give you 101 reasons as to why we need your support but the simple fact is that 70% of the world's poorest people are women and girls.
“They struggle to gain adequate healthcare, education and employment because they are women, period. Yet despite these odds women achieve amazing things every day.
“So why not help and celebrate women, whilst having fun with your family, friends and work colleagues by holding a Get-together this International Women's Day.
“You can do anything. The theme of your get together is completely up to you.”
