Grain dryer hit by blaze

A GRAIN dryer containing about a ton of grain was severely damaged by fire on the Kings Mill Industrial Estate in Cullompton in the early hour of this morning.

Three fire crews from Cullompton and Tiverton along with a hydraulic platform from Exeter were called to Saunders Way at about 2.15am.

The sprinkler system in the factory was activated and crews also had one covering jet in use.

Fortunately the fire was contained within the industrial grain-cooling hopper in a building measuring 100m by 50m on five floors.
