DEVON underlined its green credentials as the county council won a local authority award in the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2009.
The winners were announced on Thursday at a ceremony hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales in London.
Devon County Council’s Renewable Energy for Devon (RE4D) scheme is boosting a green rural regeneration in Devon by stimulating both supply and demand for renewable energy.
This multi-partner project has led to 109 renewable energy installations in small and medium-sized enterprises and community organisations, and a further 18 in domestic properties.
Fifty-five jobs have been created and a further 16 safeguarded through the scheme.
