IT was a record-breaking year for GCSE students at Queen Elizabeth College in Crediton.
Students gaining five or more GCSEs above grade C rose to 69% – the highest ever for the school.
The overall rate for five A*-C grades including English and Maths was 50%.
The most successful subject overall was Geography, as 26 students took A-level in Year 11 and all passed, along with 65% of the GCSE students gaining a C or above.
Chris Jordan, director of learning, said: “This represents a very significant achievement for all concerned.
“We have made significant advances in many areas, especially providing for students of the highest ability whilst developing our all-round strengths in areas like core Humanities and English. Congratulations to all concerned.”
Reuben Hill was the highest achiever overall, with ten A*s.
Lucy Stephenson gained two A*s and seven A’s as well as two A-levels in Music and Geography, both at grade A.
