IT was a record-breaking year for GCSE students at Queen Elizabeth College in Crediton.

The overall rate for five A*-C grades including English and Maths was 50%.

The most successful subject overall was Geography, as 26 students took A-level in Year 11 and all passed, along with 65% of the GCSE students gaining a C or above.

Chris Jordan, director of learning, said: “This represents a very significant achievement for all concerned.

“We have made significant advances in many areas, especially providing for students of the highest ability whilst developing our all-round strengths in areas like core Humanities and English. Congratulations to all concerned.”

Reuben Hill was the highest achiever overall, with ten A*s.

Lucy Stephenson gained two A*s and seven A’s as well as two A-levels in Music and Geography, both at grade A.
