YOUNGSTERS from Cullompton Pre-School have been learning how new homes are built this week, thanks to help from local housebuilder Barratt Homes.

Sarah Hall, senior sales advisor at Saxon Fields, Barratt’s new development in Cullompton visited the children to tell them all about what it takes to construct a five star home as part of a project to help the youngsters learn about maths, literacy and working together.

Amelia Joyner from the pre-school said: “We had great fun meeting Sarah from Barratt Homes at one of our pre-school sessions.

"We have been learning about construction and incorporating maths and writing into our play.

"Lots of our children live in new homes or near the building works so had lots to chat about to Sarah.

"They were very interested in the plans and the floor plans especially - working out which rooms were which, learning about how houses are built and how many people it takes to build a new home.

"It was a lovely afternoon and really helped to develop the children's role play ideas throughout the project.”

Sarah said: “It was a pleasure to meet the children, particularly as we’re at such an interesting stage in the construction of our new Saxon Fields development in Cullompton.

"Working with the local community is very important to us so it was fitting for us to be able to help the children learn more about building homes.”
