TWO fire crews were called to a crash in Devon which was caused by cattle in the road.

The incident occured at 10.16pm yesterday (November 11) on A30 between Alphington and Fingle Glen.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire engines from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were sent to a report of a road traffic collision which had occurred due to cattle being in the road.

"On arrival the crews confirmed that this was a road traffic collision involving a light goods vehicle and a car with a female trapped inside one of the vehicles.

"The crew released the female using 2 sets of hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools.  She was suffering from lower leg injuries and was conveyed to hospital via land ambulance.  Duty of care was left with police on scene."
