NATIONAL Express is calling on children in Tiverton to enter an exciting new national children’s drawing competition with the chance to get their designs seen by thousands of holidaymakers.

The UK’s largest coach operator is today launching its ‘Colour the Coach’ competition in Tiverton with the help of West Country artist Jenny Urquhart who urged local youngsters to pick up paper and pen to get their designs splashed across the side of a National Express airport service.

Pint-sized Picassos from locations all over the nation, including children in Tiverton are being asked to unleash their imaginations and draw a picture of their ideal holiday.

The best pictures will be created into a one-off livery and featured on one of National Express’s iconic white airport-bound coaches, at a time of year when tens of thousands of people will be travelling to the airport on holiday – ensuring maximum exposure of the masterpieces.

Each winner will also be handed a £50 cheque - enough to get their own summer holiday off to a flying start.

Jenny, who has two boys Monty and Charlie aged seven and nine, will be judging entries from Tiverton.

She kicked off the competition by designing her own ideal holiday, complete with a National Express coach in the picture, to help inspire entrants.

The professional artist, aged 39, is well known for her work which has been exhibited in galleries all over the South West of England, including The Royal West of England Academy.

She said: “I’m so thrilled to have been selected by National Express to launch its summer drawing competition and can’t wait see all the talent Tiverton has to offer.

“It’s such an exciting opportunity for kids to have their drawings seen by thousands of people and it is going to be amazing seeing the winning design on a moving canvas”

‘Colour the Coach’ is open to children aged 5-15 and entrants should simply draw their ideal holiday on an A4 sheet of paper using whatever drawing materials they want.

Entrants have until Monday, July 27, 2015, to unlock their inner Rembrandts and send in an entry to National Express.

Entries to the competition must be landscape designs on A4 paper and need to be sent to National Express Coach Art Competition, National Express House, Mill Lane, Birmingham, B5 6DD, or a scan of the entry can be emailed to competitions@nationalexpress.com
