Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Liskeard after a man from Plymouth was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the three-car collision on the A38 at Two Waters Foot, near Trago Mills, shortly before 3pm on Friday 20 February.

The 34-year-old male driver of the blue Peugeot 206, from Plymouth, was taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital after being extracted from the car by the fire service.

He suffered serious and life-changing internal and lower limb injuries and remains in hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The 43-year-old male passenger of the Peugeot, also from Plymouth, was taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital with minor injuries.

The drivers and passengers travelling in the blue Volkswagen Up, from Delabole, and the grey Ford S-Max, from London, suffered minor injuries.

Both carriageways were blocked as a result of the collision and the A38 was closed for five and a half hours with diversions put in place by Highways.

Officers from the Plymouth Serious Collisions Investigation Unit (SCIU) would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.
