Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary at the news kiosk in Bretonside bus station early Sunday morning.

Between 2am and 3.30am, a person has tried to gain entry to the news kiosk after cutting through two large bolts and padlocks in order to gain entry through the shutter.

Officers suspect a power tool was used to remove the bolts which would have caused some noise, and the offender was possibly disturbed by the shops alarm sounding before he managed to gain entry to the newsagents.

There were lots of people in the area at this time and it is hoped someone may have witnessed something unusual.
