THE manager of the Newton Abbot British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture & Electrical store, Jo Langford, completed the South West Road Runners Race at Haven Banks, Exeter, on Sunday and raised a total of £212 for the BHF, which will contribute vital funds to the charity’s life-saving heart research.

The 10K race was the first event run by Mrs Langford, who completed it in 1:03:51. Out of the 600 runners who took part, Mrs Langford came 434th overall and 44th in her class: female aged 25-34.

Mrs Langford said, “Although I run about two or three times a week, I’d never tried to do an event before, so it was a challenge to prepare for the 10K. It was all worth it in the end though – I’m really pleased with my time and I managed to raise over £200 for the BHF’s life-saving research. Local residents can still sponsor me through JustGiving and can also help by donating to or buying from our shop on Queen Street.”

Area Manager, Andy Dare, added, “A huge thanks to Jo for her fantastic fundraising efforts and dedication to the cause. We’re very grateful for the donation and the money raised will help us continue the fight for every heartbeat.”
