A NEW live music booking agency based in Crediton will be launching a series of events at Buccaneers Bar (formerly Potters) in East Street this autumn.

On the first Friday of each month there will be a double bill of contemporary folk and roots music at the venue, showcasing talented artists from the Mingle Music agency roster.

The first event in the series - branded The Friday Fandango - takes place on Friday 5th September, and features Jess McAllister and Adam Sweet.

Jess McAllister's music is wholesome, passionate and free-spirited. Developed naturally from the touchstones of modern folk, her songwriting has grown into an enchanting blend of sound, informed in equal measure by the spontaneity of live performance and an imaginative outlook on life.

Jess's EP, "Painted Faces" has received great critical acclaim from the music press and dozens of popular music blogs, and has also been played on BBC6 Music by Tom Robinson, who commented, "make no mistake; here is evidence of a ferocious emotional and musical intelligence at work."

Adam Sweet is an exceptionally talented young blues guitarist and singer.

His high energy solo shows of quality original music and interpretations of rock and blues classics offer a whole new perspective on the blues genre, and he never fails to impress audiences.

Since signing to Americana label NEO Music, Adam’s profile has been steadily rising and he has made his mark at some high profile festivals, completed a tour of Scotland and received a nomination for Best Blues Act at the South West Music Awards.

Of Adam's debut album, "Small Town Thinking" R2 magazine wrote, “Whether it’s brooding electric tones or sparser, rootsy instruments that are used, the quality of the songs shines through. Small town thinking? Big city delivery!”

Mingle Music is a non-profit making booking agency which aims to increase performance opportunities across the UK for talented unsigned musicians, whilst providing affordable live music to venues, promoters, event planners, wedding planners and businesses.

The agency was launched by Marie Belsten, one of the co-founders of CRAMP (Crediton Rural Arts & Music Project), an organisation that has organised dozens of live music events and projects for the community in and around Crediton for 10 years. Marie is currently recruiting several freelance agents, with the aim of building new touring networks for musicians, and Mingle Music already has around 150 of the most talented bands, singer/songwriters, classical artists and DJs in the South West on its roster.
