MOTORISTS making use of Wellington’s North Street car park can expect it to get a facelift soon.

The location is being targeted as part of Taunton Deane Council’s broader drive to neaten up the borough.

Councillors approved a £102,000 spruce-up at last week’s full council meeting, which will also be spent on extra street cleaning, new litter bins, extended verge cutting, and weed spraying.

The money will come from underspends in 2013, as well as extra income, though the council has said it will put aside some cash in reserves.

However, most will be spent improving the environment, extending superfast broadband in more rural areas and re-surfacing selected car parks, among other projects.

Money will also be spent on weed clearance, pothole repairs and new payment machines in car parks across Taunton Deane.
