Police are hunting a man after a stabbing within Devonport Park, Paradise Road, Plymouth.

A 32 year-old man was walking his dog  at around 9.40pm on Monday when an unknown man approached him in the dark and stabbed him once to the stomach. Although the victim remained in hospital overnight his condition is not considered serious.

The suspect is described as approx 5'10'', slight build, wearing a dark top with a dark hood over his head.

Officers are at the early stages of investigation and are keen to hear from anyone who may assist with their enquiries. If you have any information concerning the incident please call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting Crime Reference CR/101347/14.

DC Harrop said: “We are treating this stabbing as an isolated incident but the public are always advised to follow simple precautions when walking alone at night. Walkers should stay in well lit areas, walk in groups where possible and always tell somewhere where you are going and when you are expecting to return.”
