THIS year, for the first time, the annual fundraising Walk Ten is taking place at Killerton House, Devon on Saturday August 23 and is the perfect excuse to put on your walking shoes, pack a picnic and make the most of a summer’s evening.

Mid-Devon resident, Emma Ripley, has signed up to do the walk with her sister Samantha Gibson in memory of their mother.

Emma said: “Marie Curie nurses supported us as a whole family, not just mum, at the most difficult time and made it possible for us as a family to spend mum’s last days with her at home not on a hospital ward. I would like to raise money to continue that support for other families.”

Walk Ten participants will have exclusive access for an evening 10k walk across the stunning landscape garden estate of the beautiful Killerton House.

After completing the walk, settle down with your picnic to watch the sun set and enjoy the festival-like celebrations with live music, entertainment and spectacular fireworks at 10pm.

With your help, Walk Ten at Killerton will raise significant money to care for even more people with terminal illnesses and provide support for their families.

Every additional £20 raised will provide another hour of care and £180 pays for a nurse’s full shift.

The Walk Ten event starts at 5.30pm and Registration is £10 per person (children under 16 go free; on the night adult registration is £20).
