Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted by a man in Plymouth city centre at the weekend.

A man punched the 25-year-old woman, from Plympton, in the face several times, causing visible bruising.

It happened outside the New York Express Takeaway on Notte Street at around 1.50am on Sunday 6 July.

The man is described as white, is his mid 40s, of medium build, around 5ft 10ins, with receding light brown hair.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until 21 July.
