A 71-year-old Ladbrokes betting shop customer is one of two punters to scoop a massive £139,665 on last Saturday’s totescoop6.

The retired labourer, who lives in sheltered accommodation, was playing the Scoop6 for only the fifth time and placed his £2 bet in his local Ladbrokes shop in Barnstaple.

The pensioner, who visits the shop each day, had £2.70 left in his pocket after placing his usual bets so decided to have a crack at the Scoop6.

He wrote his selections out at the counter and incredibly picked all six winners. The lucky punter, who has chosen to remain anonymous, now has the chance to win a further £119,713 if he can select the winner of this Saturday’s bonus race.

He said: “I watched the races at home with my friends and I couldn’t believe it when the last one went in. “I’ve only been playing the Scoop6 for a few weeks after I heard about the huge rollovers.

“I do a Lucky 15 at every meeting so I stuck Australia in with my other selections from Epsom. I had one horse left to pick at Musselburgh, which was Hesketh Bank, who I thought ran well last time.

“I’m still in shock. Winning all this money is going to change my life and I’m now going to enjoy my retirement!”

Totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “We’re delighted for him. To win the Scoop6 on only his fifth go is incredible and we’re sure he’ll enjoy spending his winnings.”
