CANCER charity Walk Ten has announced that this year's event will take place at Killerton House, Devon on Saturday August 23 - and are asking everyone to put on their walking shoes, pack a picnic and join in the experience with friends and family.

Walk Ten at Killerton House is part of a series of 10k walks and celebrations at 19 stunning venues throughout the UK this summer, also including one at Badminton Estate, South Gloucestershire on Saturday July 26th.

The Killerton House event starts at 6.30pm and following the walk there will be entertainment for the whole family throughout the evening such as fireworks, live music and picnics.

Registration is £10 per person (children under-16 go free; on the night adult registration is £20) and everyone is asked to raise as much as possible in support of Marie Curie. All the funds raised will help Marie Curie provide care, free of charge, to terminally ill people in their own homes.

Walk Ten Killerton participants will be able to stroll through the grounds of this beautiful National Trust property, past its chapel and though its stunning landscape gardens, as the sun sets.

Sarah Washington, local fundraiser for Devon at Marie Curie, said: “Walk Ten is a unique event that gives people the chance to enjoy a summer evening with family and friends and walk in beautiful surroundings, followed by a festival atmosphere with activities for all ages.

“By signing up for Walk Ten at Killerton and raising funds, you’ll be helping to make it possible for Marie Curie to provide more care to terminally ill patients, and vital emotional support to their families, at the time when they need it most.”
